My skill was not bad, my age didn't affect my skill, but I eventually realized I simply could not keep up with 12-16 year old kids I was playing against. I used to play very high level competitive CSGO (think "lower" pro league level, often played with pros, etc) in Europe, and I was very proud of the level I had reached, but I wanted to get into pro league. I don't have the time to spend playing videogames as much as I was as a kid. Other hobbies, other obligations (family, chores), a job, etc.
I have a lot of other stuff to do these days. But the reason is not directly because of age, it's a more indirect thing.
Yeah I agree, it is a cop out, but it is also a very good reason why some people are much better than me in a lot of games I play.
